You spend the months of time (money) to build up your presence and it may end up going to waste, if it doesn’t work out.
And you could have invested that effort to scale things that have already proven to work.
On the other hand, if it DOES work, there are enormous gains to be made. If you join before the new platform/channel goes mainstream in your space, you can grow fast and cheap.
